Experience Veterinary Technician for busy 2 doctor progressive veterinary hospital located in Fairfield, Ct. Certification preferred but not required. Working Conditions: Requires ambulatory skills, ability to stand, walk, kneel and climb and be able to lift, carry & move 40-75 pounds. Must be able to be ambulatory for entire shift. Exposure to loud noises, disinfectants/chemicals, animal excretions & zoonotic diseases.Full/Part Time Position(s). Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits available. The ideal candidate should be professional, self-motivated, a quick thinker, able to multi-task efficiently, and have excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, must have a positive, healthy attitude and have compassion for pets and people. Requires face-to-face discussions with team members and clients. Qualifications: Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: The following is a list of essential job requirements. Additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed. Job Functions and Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Must have strong skill sets and be adept in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, taking vitals, calculating drug doses, dentistry, digital radiography(technique and positioning) ,obtaining relevant information and history from clients and maintaining proper and complete medical records, controlled drugs logs and nursing care • Be proficient educating clients about pet health, medications, vaccinations and diet. • Must be able to adapt to new protocols. •Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. • Must help with maintenance of kennels and hospital. • Must be capable of using safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs. •Perform Laboratory Tests such as HWT, HCT, SG, Vetscan•Prepare and Administer medications, vaccines and treatments. •Fill prescriptions, measure medication, and label containers. •Obtain TPR’s and history’s in exam rooms and treatment area’s. •Must perform a variety of office, clerical, receptionist, and accounting duties if needed. •Avimark is a plus! |
