We are looking for a Full Time Veterinarian and Medical Director to support Arrowhead Animal Hospital in the following capacities:
Practice proficient skill in medicine, surgery, and dentistry.
Practice high-quality evidence-based medicine and excellent patient care.
Teach and mentor veterinarians at all performance levels and our summer veterinary student employees (SWEP).
Teach and mentor the technical staff (RVT and veterinary assistants) and the hospital support staff (including reception and kennel staff) at all performance levels.
Help coordinate and disseminate continuing education the entire veterinary hospital team (veterinarians, technicians and assistants, receptionists, and kennel staff).
Help develop and maintain high quality medical protocols.
Keep current on new products and medical protocols.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records yourself and to review/audit those of other doctors when needed.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of staff including veterinarians, technical staff, reception, and kennel staff.
Involvement in budgetary decisions regarding inventory, products, equipment, and labor costs.
Aid in planning for new growth directions for the hospital and satellite facilities.
Coaching, issuing performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary action.
Assist in organizing/maintaining schedules when needed for all staff areas.
Organize and lead regular meetings for doctor meetings, technical staff meetings, and general hospital meetings.
Qualifications for Medical Director:
Minimum 5 years DVM clinical experience.
Experience and interest in general practice, surgery, and emergency practice.
Interest and ability to coach, teach, and mentor (including to other veterinarians, veterinary students during summer employment, and to all technical and non-technical members of the hospital team).
Ability to write, adjust, and implement medical standards and protocols.
Must be organized, focused, and work well under pressure.
Strong communicator - preferably familiar with emotional intelligence and conflict resolution / conflict competence skills.
