The Dongan Hills Veterinary Practice in Staten Island, NY is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead our veterinary team. Staten Island is the perfect place to get back to nature, just outside the concrete jungle of New York City. There are miles of hiking trails, public golf courses, and thousands of acres of parks for exploration.
We are a 2-doctor small animal practice, established in 1986, that specializes in providing high quality, compassionate and convenient care for our patients and the clients that love them. We recognize the importance of the relationships between humans and animals and we see our clients and patients as part of our extended family.
Our practice provides many services such as wellness services, surgery, radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, therapeutic and surgical lasers and an in-house laboratory. We are committed to providing the most advanced veterinary diagnostics and treatments in an environment of care and compassion. We place a premium on individual care for each patient.
We are looking for just the right person who has strong leadership qualities, the ability to work independently and the desire to help develop our team’s potential. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel is required and experience with Impromed Infinity software is highly valued. At least 3 years veterinary practice management experience is preferred, as is a BA/BS in a business-related field. The ideal candidate will be a CVPM, or CVPM eligible. Individuals interested in the position must be compassionate, cheerful and have a good work ethic.
Responsibilities include day-to-day operations with major focus on strong personnel management responsibilities including hiring, training, leading the team and preparing the monthly work schedule. A strong commitment to client service skills is imperative to be successful in this position. Other valuable experience includes strong initiative, enjoyment of a job well done, ability to work independently, knowledge of billing, payroll, accounts receivable, inventory control, and experience holding staff meetings and conducting performance reviews.
Strong leadership, time management and communication skills are a must. Successful applicants must be able to adequately assess the overall performance of the practice, participate in the establishment and achievement of goals, analyze and implement new services, products or procedures, and present data and ideas for improvement to the practice owners.
