Southington Veterinary Associates is a privately-owned small-animal general medicine clinic located in Southington, CT. We are looking for a Full-Time experienced Veterinary Technician to become part of our team. Our motto is "We do what we love and we love what we do!" It's important to us, that all of our clients and patients be treated how we ourselves would like to be treated. It's why we tend to have a low employee turnover rate. Our Veterinary Technicians are very hard workers and primarily work in surgery, lab, dentistry and directly with our doctors. They must all understand anesthetics, emergency medicine, education and the importance of communication in this field. As American Animal Hospital Association members we are all required to adhere to higher levels of standards and we all must meet continuing education requirements in order to excel in this field. We rely heavily on our technicians and each of them does an amazing job with record keeping, pharmacy, educating our clients, staying on top of equipment maintenance, OSHA requirements, stocking shelves and products in addition to each of their specific areas they are in charge of. Everyone here is required to help out in reception and/or kennel if needed. We rely on our technicians to be professional and detail-oriented when it comes to record keeping. 1-2 Years Experience in a Veterinary setting. 1-2 years experience in surgery and anesthesia. Experience in phlebotomy, blood pressure taking, history taking and record keeping. Must be able to work with blood machines and input data into veterinary software. Degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited school. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Speak and write clearly and legibly in English. Communication skills. Have to be reliable, trustworthy and willing to learn. This is a fast-paced environment and candidate has to be able to provide curbside service to clients. Technician needs to know how to restrain patients and work with clients. Candidate has to be able to work within changing guidelines regarding COVID-19 requirements and understand the importance of following OSHA guidelines.
