Stafford Veterinary Center is seeking three surgical technicians, one to start next month and two to start in six months.

Compensation depends on experience ranging from $15.00 per hour to $25.00 Per Hour
Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT)
Bachelor’s Degree in animal science preferred. Skills & Qualifications

Ability to take information from clients, staff, and other sources, discern that which is credible, and assess the hospital and its operation objectively.

Must have exemplary surgical assisting skills.
Must enjoy a fast-paced environment
Regular duties include:
-Animal care and treatment (includes phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, radiographs, blood pressure, making medications, etc.)
- Partner with DVM's inpatient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
-Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
-Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned anesthetic procedures
Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
Assist with surgeries and procedures.
Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on our puppy wellness plans, services, medications, and additional treatments.
Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records.
Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
Must be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members

Stafford Veterinary Center is a mixed animal practice that was established in 1981. We employ four awesome veterinarians, and support staff of twenty-eight amazingly talented employees. We are located in the quiet corner of Connecticut, a rural setting, 20 minutes north of UConn. We see patients and emergencies twenty-four hours a day. We are relocating into a new facility which is 18,000 square feet. Our practice is client-oriented, family-friendly, and schedules are always flexible to accommodate employee's personal lives.
