Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and LIU Veterinary Full Professor-Tenure Track Long Island University
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University (Post Campus) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
As a senior member of the administrative team, the Associate Dean will provide visionary academic leadership for development of an accredited veterinary program. The successful candidate must be able to promote LIU-CVM's mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research and service to a variety of stakeholders.
Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean is responsible for coordination and oversight of all academic activities of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. He/she will:
Implement and coordinate a cohesive, integrated curriculum from basic sciences through clinical training,
create, implement and manage academic policies and administer all matters related to academic standing,
assist students with academic concerns and make referrals to appropriate on and/or off-campus services,
provide guidance and mentorship to faculty in support of teaching, curriculum development, innovation in outcomes-based education and veterinary education research,
meet reporting requirements for accreditation.
The Associate Dean will work closely with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and the Associate Dean of Students and Outcomes Assessment to ensure rigorous evaluation of the curriculum in terms of quality, content, consistency, objectives and outcomes. To that end, these academic leaders will develop assessment and communication strategies to ensure that students and educators clearly understand the expected learning outcomes and the grading practices for each educational experience.
The Associate Dean will be an integral member of the senior leadership team and work in collaboration with this group in order to oversee and maintain the academic programs of the College. S/he/they will participate in annual faculty evaluation for merit increase and promotion.
The successful candidate will have excellent academic credentials; a DVM or equivalent degree, a PhD, other earned doctoral degree and/or specialty board certification. The candidate will have substantial academic administration experience and expertise in curricular design, implementation and assessment. The candidate will have exceptional leadership and management abilities, a strong commitment to professional and graduate student education, professional development of faculty and staff. S/he/they will have the proven ability to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and will interact well with University administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, students, and alumni.
