SAVE PETS, HELP FAMILIES, CHANGE LIVES: KALAMAZOO HUMANE SOCIETY
NOT A SHELTER, NOT A RESCUE, A SOLUTION! WHERE YOUR PASSION MEETS YOUR CAREER
The Kalamazoo Humane Society is looking for a very special veterinarian looking to make a real difference in improving the welfare of animals and the way people value them. We are a non-sheltering animal welfare organization focused on the prevention of pet overpopulation and affordable access to veterinary care.
HOW DO WE DO THIS: We assist struggling pet owners BY providing services and resources so they can keep their pets rather than have them end up in rescues and shelters.
WANT A CHANGE? You never have to say no to a client or their pet. Mid-career veterinarian: consider joining our team. Later-career veterinarian: would you like to make a real contribution and still keep your ‘hand’ in?
Kalamazoo is a hidden gem. We offer the amenities of a big city yet with a close-knit community feel! We are a regional non-profit serving all of southwest Michigan. We are blessed to live in a community where there are a loyal group of donors who are passionate about supporting our facilities. Another amazing benefit is the Kalamazoo promise: if your child graduates from high school in Kalamazoo, there is guaranteed free college tuition to any college in the state. Pfizer and Striker are both here. We are conveniently located 50 miles from Grand Rapids, 30 miles from Lake Shore.
About Us:
-We are a non-sheltering 11,000 sq ft facility on 15 acres with a $5 million endowment with 1.5 FTE veterinarians,
-One veterinarian said, “It’s a very inspiring place to work! Everyone is pulling in the same direction! It’s so encouraging that we can offer free care to clients when necessary!”
We have a:
- low-cost clinic for well checks and vaccines,
-low-cost spay and neuter program,
-a pet food bank,
-mobile vaccine clinic.
We have a phenomenal team of dedicated staff who love to collaborate,
We have high-quality leadership who are around every day making sure we have the tools and supplies we need to do the job,
If a staff member is having a tough time personally, the team supports them on and off the job,
One staff member who has been in rescue for 17 plus years said, “I feel very heard here!,”
Great equipment: digital dental and whole-body x-ray, ultrasound, IDEXX.
About You:
-We’re looking for a veterinarian who would like to be part of changing the culture to improve the welfare of animals including the way people value their animals,
-A veterinarian that doesn’t want to compromise pet care due to costs as can frequently happen in a private hospital setting,
-Part-time or full-time to $140K, with a $5K signing bonus, and retention bonus,
-Doing S&N and routine medical care,
-Doing other simple soft tissue surgery and dentals is optional,
-Day shifts, 4 days or 5 days/week depending on what works well for you.
Compensation and Benefits:
-Part-time or full-time to $140K, with a $5K signing bonus, and retention bonus,
-$2500 CEU,
-healthcare insurance,
-memberships and licenses,
-relocation,
-Free college tuition, in-state Michigan at any public college when student graduates from a Kalamazoo high school.
