Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Feline Care: Provide medical and surgical care to our shelter cats, ensuring their well-being and happiness and helping to move forward to adoption.
- Public Program Management: With the help of current staff and our board of directors, develop and run a low-cost veterinary services program for basic wellness and surgical needs, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for pet owners in the community.
- Education and Outreach: Share your knowledge and expertise with the community, helping cat owners become better caregivers and helping develop programs to benefit owned and community cats alike. One of our goals is to develop a TNR program, which will require outreach to help the community understand the benefits of this program.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a dedicated team of cat enthusiasts, volunteers, and fellow veterinary staff to create a positive and nurturing environment for cats both in our care at the shelter as well as within the community.
Madison Cat Project is a non-profit shelter located in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin. We believe in creating a brighter future for cats and the people who love them. We want to provide quality care, love, and shelter for our feline friends, while making veterinary care accessible to all.
From MCP’s inception, run by volunteers in a garage 22 years ago, the organization has grown into a new, light-filled facility, offering a nonprofit animal shelter, surgical center and adoption facility. MCP is now able to help thousands of cats annually, providing safe, comforting shelter and care, free or low-cost surgical procedures, and expanded community leadership and education around best care for feral and domestic
cats, serving as an advocate for animal welfare in Dane County and working with transfer partners across the United States.
We are currently seeking a full time veterinarian to perform surgical as well as medical duties. This is a unique opportunity in that our medical and surgical needs are growing exponentially and we are looking to expand on the services that we currently offer. We are seeking a compassionate, patient, caring individual who has a creative vision to help... us take our clinic to the next level.
We currently offer spay, neuter, dental and routine medical services for our shelter cat population as well as spay/ neuter services to the public. We are seeking to expand our services to the general public as the need for affordable quality veterinary care has also grown within the community. We have a wonderful and dedicated staff compassionate about the work they do and a very supportive board of directors. Our organization boasts 200+ volunteers to help with fundraising, foster care, and adoption services. We are an Adoption Guarantee organization (with a Live Release Rate of 99.7%) driven by our mission of “Saving Cats Lives Through Community Solutions.”
