We are searching for an Associate Internship Director/Emergency Staff DVM. This is a unique opportunity to spend 8 shifts per month as an ER DVM and the remainder of your time focusing on the Associate Internship Director role. The Internship program is an established program with 10 rotating interns per year.
As the Associate Internship Director, you will play a vital role in overseeing our internship program and ensuring its success. Responsibilities:
1. Serve as a primary point of contact for interns, addressing their questions, concerns, and providing guidance throughout their internship experience.
2. Play an integral role in interviewing and selecting intern candidates.
3. Provide direct mentorship while on ER receiving shifts.
4. Review and provide feedback on medical records.
5. Coordinate Intern Orientation.
6. Create and update Internal Continuing Education Schedule.
7. Prepare and assist in delivering periodic intern performance reviews.
8. Coordinate and participate in teaching wet labs for procedures and POCUS training.
9. Conduct regular check-ins with interns and supervisors to ensure a supported learning experience.
10. Coordinate Intern Mentoring Program with staff doctors.
11. Coordinate Intern Holiday Party and Graduation Party.
12. Assist in evaluating student externs and recruitment of future intern candidates.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships with interns, doctors, and staff.
3. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
4. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. A passion for supporting the professional development of young doctors.

Interns rotate through three affiliated specialty hospitals. Arizona Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center (AVECCC) Gilbert is a segment of Arizona Veterinary Specialists, the largest specialty hospital in the Phoenix metro area with specialists in emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and dentistry including 6 resident programs and 2 internship programs. AVECCC Peoria is a segment of Canyon State Veterinary Specialists in Peoria, AZ with specialists in emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, and dentistry. Arizona Regional, Intensive Care, Specialty & Emergency (ARISE) Veterinary Center is our brand new 32,000 square foot/two-story state-of-the-art hospital and Regional Training Center located in beautiful Queen Creek, AZ.
As the Associate Internship Director, you would be primarily based out of the Gilbert and Queen Creek locations, an easy 16 miles commute between the two hospitals.
